TeamCindy honors the life of Cynthia Lynn Sherwin and promotes widespread public awareness of the dangers of a ruptured brain aneurysm – the sudden and silent killer that took her life and the lives of thousands of others each year. Cindy was a dedicated athlete, marathoner and triathlete. She was struck down at the young age of 33 while training for her first Ironman, Lake Placid 2007.
TeamCindy was founded in 2008 when one athlete participated in the Ford Tempe Ironman in Cindy’s honor. Every year since, a growing number of TeamCindy athletes have participated in key endurance events throughout the country to fulfill the team’s mission to fund research into the early detection and prevention of brain aneurysms.
The current TeamCindy lineup for 2012 includes Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco, the Lake Placid Ironman, the inaugural 2012 US Ironman Championship in New York, the Escape the Cape Sprint Triathlon in Onset, MA, the Nation’s Triathlon in Washington, DC and the Massachusetts State Olympic Triathlon.
TeamCindy is pleased to announce that Colleen Armour has joined the TeamCindy organization as Sports Coordinator. Colleen is responsible for finding new venues for TeamCindy, enlisting new athletes and supporting those athletes with both their fundraising and performance goals. Colleen will be offering training schedules and group practices in the Greater Boston area for all of our events. Colleen can be reached at Colleen@bafound.org
We invite you to contact us and become a member of TeamCindy and help change the outcome of this deadly condition!
